  • Figma raised its full-year 2026 revenue forecast by $33 million to between $1.497 billion and $1.499 billion.
  • As of October 31, 2026, 65% of customers paying more than $10,000 a year used the Figma agent each week.
  • Non-GAAP gross margin was 82%, down from 85% in the second quarter, as Figma carried the cost of running AI features.
  • Figma ended September with $1.7 billion in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities.

Figma reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $391.4 million on November 4, 2026, a 43% rise from a year earlier, and raised its full-year forecast again. The San Francisco design software company said customers are moving from experimenting with AI to making larger commitments, with its Figma agent now part of weekly work at most of its bigger accounts. The trade-off is margin: Figma is absorbing the cost of running AI models as usage climbs.

What did Figma report for Q3 2026?

For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, Figma’s main figures were:

  • Revenue: $391.4 million, up 43% year over year and $16.4 million above the high end of its prior guidance.
  • Gross margin: 80% on a GAAP basis and 82% on a non-GAAP basis.
  • Operating result: a GAAP operating loss of $119.2 million, but non-GAAP operating income of $47.0 million, a 12% margin.
  • Net result: a GAAP net loss of $81.3 million and non-GAAP net income of $53.7 million, or $0.10 per share.
  • Cash flow: operating cash flow of $48.4 million and free cash flow of $41.5 million, an 11% margin.
  • Balance sheet: $1.7 billion in cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities.

The gap between GAAP and non-GAAP figures comes mostly from stock-based compensation, which Figma excludes from its adjusted numbers.

How big is Figma’s customer base?

Figma’s net dollar retention rate was 131%, meaning existing customers paying more than $10,000 a year spent 31% more than they did a year earlier. The company counted 16,566 paid customers above $10,000 in annual recurring revenue, up by more than 3,650 in a year, and 1,717 customers above $100,000, up by more than 450.

Chief financial officer Praveer Melwani said customers “continued to expand seats and invest more deeply in Figma,” pointing to both more users and more AI spending per account.

Why does the Figma agent matter?

The quarter was the first full test of Figma’s AI push since it began charging for AI through credits. Figma said that as of October 31, 2026, 65% of customers paying over $10,000 a year used the Figma agent each week, and more than 80% of those customers consumed AI credits. Between July 1 and October 31, the number of weekly active users spending credits at those accounts grew by almost 50%.

Other product signals in the release:

  • Figma MCP server: the fastest-growing product of the quarter by weekly active users. Total usage tripled from the previous quarter and “write-back” usage, where AI tools send changes back into Figma files, grew fourfold. Figma added integrations with 20 partners in October.
  • Figma’s own models: the share of work handled by Figma’s post-trained design model more than doubled between July and October.
  • Code Layers: an open beta that puts working code directly on the Figma canvas began on October 14, 2026.
  • Config India: Figma held its first Config event in Bengaluru in October.

Chief executive Dylan Field framed the strategy around a shift in where value sits, saying “as code becomes a commodity, value is moving up the stack to design.” His argument is that AI makes software cheaper to build, which raises the importance of deciding what to build and how it should look and work.

What is the cost of Figma’s AI growth?

Running AI features is expensive, and it shows in the margins. Figma’s non-GAAP gross margin was 82% in the third quarter, down from 85% in the second quarter, according to its Q2 results. In August, analysts at Trefis noted that Figma was already paying for the AI inference behind products in beta or early access while leaving their revenue out of its outlook.

That pattern continued in Q3. Revenue beat guidance by a wide margin, but free cash flow margin slipped to 11% from 14% in the second quarter.

What is Figma’s outlook?

Figma guided to:

  • Q4 2026 revenue: $402 million to $404 million, about 33% growth at the midpoint.
  • Full-year 2026 revenue: $1.497 billion to $1.499 billion, about 42% growth and $33 million higher than its previous forecast.
  • Full-year non-GAAP operating income: $158 million to $163 million, an 11% margin at the midpoint.

The full-year forecast has now risen from $1.422–1.428 billion in May to $1.463–1.467 billion in August and to just under $1.5 billion today.

Why it matters

Figma is the most closely watched public company in product design, and its results are a gauge of how quickly design teams are adopting AI tools. The numbers suggest large customers are paying for AI on top of seats, which is the model many software companies are trying to prove. They also show the cost: every extra prompt to an AI model eats into the high margins investors expect from software.

The report landed in a nervous week for technology shares, after a sharp sell-off on November 5 that we covered in our stock market report. For a comparable view of AI changing a software platform’s business, see our coverage of Shopify’s Q3 results.

What happens next

Figma will report fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 results in early 2027. The key questions are whether AI credit revenue keeps growing faster than AI running costs, how many customers move Code Layers and the MCP server from trials into daily use, and whether growth holds near the 33% Figma has guided for the final quarter.
