Islamabad IT Park to Boost Pakistan’s Tech Ecosystem
The Islamabad Information Technology Park is set to be inaugurated on August 14, 2025, providing modern facilities for startups, freelancers, and IT companies. Led by the Ministry of IT, this project aims to strengthen Pakistan’s digital economy and create more opportunities in the tech sector. The Islamabad IT Park initiative reflects the government’s commitment to positioning Pakistan as a global hub for technology and innovation.
Advanced Facilities at Islamabad IT Park
Spanning 66,893 square meters, the Islamabad IT Park features two basements, a ground floor, and nine upper levels. It will offer 120 office spaces for IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) companies. Moreover, it will host a startup incubation center with 15 private offices to nurture young businesses. This modern infrastructure will cater to the diverse needs of tech businesses, helping them scale and compete internationally. Additionally, it will offer high-speed internet and state-of-the-art telecommunications to ensure seamless business operations.
Supporting Businesses and Building Academia-Industry Linkages
In addition to workspaces, the Islamabad IT Park will include a business support center that offers legal, marketing, and financial advisory services. An industry-academia linkage center will foster collaboration between universities and the private sector, promoting research and innovation. This collaborative approach will help bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring a continuous flow of fresh ideas and talent into the tech ecosystem.
State-of-the-Art Tier III Data Center
A significant highlight is Pakistan’s first Tier III certified Data Center, designed to ensure maximum uptime, secure data storage, and reliable power supply. This facility is expected to set a new standard for digital infrastructure in Pakistan. The Data Center will not only serve businesses operating within the park but also support external clients requiring reliable hosting and cloud services. As a result, it will become a central hub for data security in the country.
Future Expansion Plans
Meanwhile, the Ministry of IT is planning a similar IT park near Karachi airport. These developments are part of a broader strategy to enhance Pakistan’s IT sector and increase export revenues through a stronger tech ecosystem. Furthermore, the government aims to build additional infrastructure to support the growing demand for digital services.
